Accredited Boarding Schools
Parents choosing from overseas are often looking at schools they cannot visit, described in prospectuses that all read well. Accreditation is one of the few signals that has been checked by someone other than the school itself.
Schools we work with
Our UK boarding schools directory lists the schools we place students into, and can be filtered by destination, school type and gender. Each entry links through to the detail we hold on that school, including the inspection rating and accreditations recorded for it.
Two different things get accredited
It is worth separating them, because they are often confused:
- The school is inspected — in England that is normally Ofsted or the Independent Schools Inspectorate, depending on the type of school.
- The guardianship organisation is accredited separately. That is the part that covers who looks after your child outside term time.
A place at a well-inspected school says nothing about the quality of the guardianship arrangement around it. Our own accreditations and memberships are listed on the Accreditations & Partners page.
What to ask
- Who exactly will be the named guardian, and how is that person reachable?
- How are host families recruited, checked and reviewed?
- What happens at an exeat, at half term, and in an emergency?
- Which policies are published, and can you read them before committing?
