Arden University
Headquartered in Coventry, Arden University is a private institution focused on flexible higher education for learners who balance their studies with employment or other responsibilities. It grew out of Resource Development International, established in 1990 to provide online programmes on behalf of long-established universities. Taught degree awarding powers followed in 2014, and when university title was granted in 2015 the institution took the Arden University name, becoming one of only a small number of specialist online universities to appear in the UK over the past fifty years.
Its global student body exceeds 20,000. Some study wholly online, while others choose blended learning, which combines online work with roughly two days of weekly face-to-face teaching at a study centre. In the UK, these centres are found at several London locations as well as in Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Newcastle and Nottingham. Provision extends from foundation level through master's degrees and the MBA, in computing, law, psychology, criminology, accounting and finance, health and social care, and business and management. Professional bodies including the Chartered Management Institute and the British Psychological Society accredit a number of its courses.
Information for International Students
Arden University holds a licence to sponsor Student visas. Before making a visa application, applicants need to have completed their application to the university and been issued with their Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS). Immigration guidance, advice before arrival and continuing help with the responsibilities attached to sponsorship come from a compliance adviser, and the university also explains how the Home Office credibility interview works.
Applicants who lack standard entry qualifications can begin many degrees with an integrated foundation year, and the university also offers foundation degrees. Its English language requirements must be met, and throughout the course an English Language Hub supports students in building their academic English. On housing, the guidance centres on locating private rented accommodation that fits each student's budget. A pre-arrival guide deals with the early weeks after arrival as well as the journey to the UK, and academic, careers and wellbeing support is provided by success coaches and regional teams. International students may apply for scholarships, and the Graduate Route may be open to eligible graduates.
