BPP University
BPP University is a professional education specialist under private ownership. It started out in 1976 as a business offering accountancy tuition, and in 2007 it was the first company in the UK's private sector to receive degree awarding powers. It was granted university college status in 2010 and university title in 2013, and in 2020 its degree awarding powers became indefinite. Teaching is delivered through four schools, covering business, law, healthcare and nursing, and technology. Beyond these, the portfolio takes in digital marketing, leadership, data and analytics, and accountancy and tax, together with a large apprenticeship provision.
Over 30,000 students are enrolled on professional, apprenticeship, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. BPP has no single campus; instead it runs study centres in city centres, with several London sites, Holborn and Waterloo among them, and additional centres in Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Bristol and Cambridge. Programmes are designed closely around professional qualifications and the requirements of employers, most notably in legal and accountancy training. The undergraduate range centres on nursing, management, and accounting and finance.
Information for International Students
Overseas applications are dealt with by BPP's International Admissions team, which is responsible for issuing each Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS). As one step in the Student visa process, the team also conducts an online credibility interview with applicants. English requirements vary by programme. Undergraduate degrees in management and finance usually call for IELTS 6.0 overall and a minimum of 5.5 in every skill, while taught postgraduate courses normally expect 6.5 with each skill at 6.0 or above; professional courses in nursing and law set higher thresholds. Applicants can also satisfy the requirement through BPP's own free English Language Test or a recognised pre-sessional English programme. Enrolled students may attend free in-sessional English classes, generally in their first term.
BPP has no halls of residence but cooperates with local housing services that assist students in securing suitable private accommodation. New students enrol online before their course begins and receive induction information, such as their timetable and personal tutor. A number of postgraduate scholarships are offered, applications may also be submitted through authorised agents, and those completing undergraduate or taught postgraduate degrees can apply for the Graduate Route.
