Istituto Marangoni London
Istituto Marangoni London is the UK school of Istituto Marangoni, a private fashion and design institution founded in Milan in 1935 by the tailor Giulio Marangoni. It is not a UK university and does not hold its own degree-awarding powers; its UK degrees are validated by a partner university. The London school opened in 2003 and is based at 30 Fashion Street in Spitalfields, East London, in a converted industrial building close to Brick Lane and the City. The wider group, now part of Galileo Global Education, also has schools in Milan, Florence, Paris, Dubai and several cities in Asia.
The London school specialises in fashion and design. Its undergraduate programmes are three-year BA (Hons) degrees in areas such as fashion design, fashion business, fashion communication and image, interior design, product design and visual design. Master's programmes cover subjects including fashion and luxury brand management, fashion buying and merchandising, styling and creative direction, interior design and jewellery design. Teaching places strong emphasis on industry projects, brand collaborations and sustainable practice, and the school's alumni include several well-known international designers.
Information for International Students
Istituto Marangoni London recruits students from many countries as part of an international network of schools. The school sponsors international students for the Student visa and issues a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) as part of the admissions process. Applicants who need a visa must provide an IELTS for UKVI (Academic) result.
For three-year undergraduate courses the typical English language requirement is IELTS Academic 6.0 overall, with no element below 5.5, and for postgraduate courses it is typically IELTS Academic 6.5 overall, with no element below 5.5. Students who are not yet ready for direct entry to a degree can take the Foundation in Fashion and Design, a preparatory year with a lower entry requirement of IELTS 5.0 overall and at least 4.5 in each component for visa students. The school also offers short courses and semester study options in fashion, design and art. The school publishes guidance on accommodation and health for students moving to London. Graduates of eligible UK degree programmes may be able to apply for the UK Graduate Route.
