London Metropolitan University

London

London Metropolitan University, commonly known as London Met, is a public university in London. It was formed in 2002 through the merger of London Guildhall University and the University of North London, although its roots can be traced back to 1848, when evening classes were first offered to young working men in the City of London.

The university is based on two main campuses, at Holloway in north London and Aldgate on the edge of the City, and has around 13,500 students. Teaching is organised into six schools: the Guildhall School of Business and Law, the School of Computing and Digital Media, the School of Human Sciences, the School of Social Professions, the School of Social Sciences, and the School of Art, Architecture and Design. Together these offer around 160 degree courses. Art, architecture and design is a well regarded area of provision, and the university has a strong focus on widening participation, serving a diverse student body with many mature and first-generation students, and on vocational and professional education linked to employment in London.

Information for International Students

London Met has a dedicated team of international advisers who are trained and regulated by the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner. The team provides guidance on Student visas, short-term study visas, family and dependant visas, and the rules on working during and after study. It also assists with Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) applications and runs welcome inductions, events and workshops for new international students.

English language requirements vary by course and level, and are set out separately for undergraduate, postgraduate and research degrees. A Pre-sessional Academic English course is available for students who need to improve their English before starting their degree, delivered in partnership with Oxford International.

The university's International Study Centre, delivered in partnership with Malvern HE Partnerships, part of Malvern International, offers an International Foundation Programme in business, computer science and health subjects, an International Year One in business and computer science, and a Pre-Master's Programme. These programmes run across the Holloway, Aldgate and Shoreditch sites. Graduates may be eligible for the UK Graduate Route after completing their studies.
