University of Hull

Hull

The University of Hull was established in 1927 as University College Hull and received its royal charter in 1954, making it the fourteenth university to be founded in England. Its main campus in Kingston upon Hull is compact enough to walk across in under ten minutes and combines historic buildings with modern teaching, library and sports facilities. The university also operates a London study centre offering postgraduate business programmes.

Hull has around 15,000 students and holds a Gold rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework. It offers a broad range of subjects across the arts, business, law, education, health, the sciences and engineering, and is a partner in the Hull York Medical School. Research is organised around institutes and centres with international reputations, including the Wilberforce Institute, which studies slavery and emancipation, the Institute for Estuarine and Coastal Studies and the E.A. Milne Centre for Astrophysics.

Information for International Students

Hull welcomes international students to what it describes as one of the most affordable student cities in the UK. A dedicated team of advisers helps applicants with course choice, applications and visa guidance, including the Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) required for a Student visa, and can be contacted by email or messaging services. A virtual campus tour allows prospective students to explore the university before they arrive.

English language requirements are set for each programme, and applicants who need to improve their English can join a pre-sessional English course before starting their degree. OnCampus Hull, a pathway centre located on the university campus, prepares international students for degree study through an Undergraduate Foundation Programme, an International Year One leading to the second year of a degree, and a Pre-Master's Programme, with progression to the university for students who meet the required grades.

New full-time undergraduates are guaranteed university accommodation if they apply by 31 August in their year of entry, with a choice of halls including modern en-suite rooms close to the campus. Scholarships are available for eligible international applicants.
