University of Lincoln
The University of Lincoln has roots going back to the Hull School of Art in 1861 and gained university status in 1992 as the University of Humberside. In 1996 it opened its Brayford Pool campus in Lincoln, the first new city-centre university campus built in the UK for several decades, and it adopted its current name in 2001. The waterfront campus sits in the heart of the historic cathedral city, with most student accommodation on site or close by.
The university has around 20,000 students and was awarded Gold overall in the 2023 Teaching Excellence Framework. It offers a broad range of subjects across arts, business and law, health, science and engineering. It is recognised for its work in agriculture and agri-food technology, supported by specialist facilities at Riseholme and at the National Centre for Food Manufacturing in Holbeach, and for its growing health provision, including Lincoln Medical School, established in partnership with the University of Nottingham.
Information for International Students
The University of Lincoln supports international applicants through its International Enquiries Team, which can be contacted by phone, online enquiry form and messaging services. A series of on-demand webinars covers applying for a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) and Student visa, accommodation, cost of living, part-time work and the Graduate visa for post-study work.
English language requirements typically range from IELTS 6.0 to 7.0 depending on the programme, and country-specific guidance on academic and language requirements is published for a wide range of countries.
The University of Lincoln International College offers degree preparation programmes for international students, including International Year One, a Pre-Master's programme leading to master's study, and Pre-sessional English and Academic Study Skills (PEASS) courses of five or ten weeks over the summer, depending on the student's IELTS score. Most university-managed accommodation is located on or near the Brayford Pool campus, and the university indicates a guaranteed room for new students, with early application encouraged because demand is high.
